When you go on vacation, your job is to RELAX your brain, get your stress level down, have a little fun, and recharge! That’s right… I know it’s tough for us Type-A Boomer-ettes to do close to nothing for any length of time, but it is possible.
Here are 5 things to do in Hawaii that will take minimal effort, but still get the job done!
1. Take a full-island tour with Kailani Tours. It took 11+ hours, they took me all over the island in a new, very comfy Mercedes bus with 12 other people, fed me breakfast and lunch, and entertained the hell out of me. Volcano park, black sand beach, coffee farm, lava tube, Hilo waterfalls, etc. Done! Well worth the $249 price tag.
2. Rent a condo with a full ocean VIEW lanai and sit out there! Listen to the ocean. Look at that gorgeous turquoise water. Give yourself permission to relax. I rented Unit 415 in Kona Bali Kai from a nice lady named Holly on Airbnb and it had an incredible view plus a kitchen. There is a super Safeway here, so I could shop and fix most of my own meals. Low on the hassle/expense meter.
3. Go for a mini “swim.” There is a sandy beach (along with lots of lava rock) right in the backyard of this condo complex. I put my beach chair IN the water to get wet and listened to a continuing education tape (I know).
4. Get those 10,000 steps in! I am hard core on this topic – unless I’m really sick in bed, I get my 10,000 steps in every single day. There is no excuse. (I have many tips for accomplishing this like always parking very far away, climbing a lot of stairs, listening to podcasts, etc. but that’s a post for another day!) Here, I ignored the elevator and took the stairs up to my 4th floor condo every time, unless I had groceries or a suitcase. My health is v important to me. I hope it’s important to you too.
5. Think about your future. Here’s the thing, when do we ever get a minute to really think? To think about the future, what you want to do, where you want to be in xx years, etc.? Seems hard to find those minutes – well, they’re right here with you when you’re on vacation. USE THIS TIME to plan your future. When else are you going to do it?
